Evil & Depraved - The Reformed View of Children

WHAT DOES TOTAL DEPRAVITY MEAN?
We bring you another tune straight from Radio Sovereign Geneva. This time we hear from some of the leading Calvinist voices and their view of children. John MacArthur holds a gnostic view of sin wherein sin is a substance to be transferred and exchanged; thus he believes the greatest act of depravity is when a husband and wife become pregnant. RC Sproul takes issue with John Calvin's claim that children are as depraved as rats. In Sproul's opinion, this is far too insulting to the rat. Voddie Baucham calls an infants a "viper in a diaper". While Paul Washer claims infants are born evil, possessed of murderous intent and hating God.
However, the Scripture are clear. These men are teaching lies and slandering God's innocent and helpless little imagebearers.
"You are He who brought me forth from the womb;
You made me trust when upon my mother’s breasts.
I was cast upon You from birth;
You have been my God from my mother’s womb." Psalm 22:9&10
"The WICKED have TURNED AWAY from the womb;
These who speak lies GO ASTRAY from birth." Psalm 58:3
"For You are my hope;
Lord God, You are my confidence from my youth.
I have leaned on you since my birth;
You are He who took me from my mother’s womb;
My praise is continually of You." Psalm 71:5&6
"Behold, children are a gift of the Lord,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.
Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,
So are the children of one’s youth.
Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them;
They will not be ashamed
When they speak with their enemies in the gate." Psalm 127:3-5
"For You created my innermost parts;
You wove me in my mother’s womb.
I will give thanks to You, because I am awesomely and wonderfully made;
Wonderful are Your works,
And my soul knows it very well." Psalm 139:13&14
